When we first bought R2, hubby drove her around for a day or two to make sure there were no serious bugs. He said that it did a surge (hiccup) or two going up a small hill, then up a larger one it was surging so badly and losing so much power he thought it would shut off. He took his foot off the gas, re-applied, and things were fine. I then started driving it my 80 mile round tip to work, and for the first month didn't have a single problem, other than sucky gas mileage. Then, the other day, we had a hiccup when it shifted into passing gear (going up a hill). The next day, lots of surges and a decent loss of power, I took my foot off the gas, let it drift, then went on my merry way like nothing happened. This past sunday took it for a spin, and the whole way it was hiccuping and surging, I didn't think it would make it. The way home - totally fine.
Yesterday I had it idling in park for a while (10mins or so), I heard the surging come back for about a min before the car turned itself off. It started right back up. Coming through town it was nothing but surges, and again, at a traffic light turned itself off. Again, started back up but kept hiccuping and gave a HUGE backfire coming down the hill out of town.
In a nutshell - we have surging, a backfire and pretty poor fuel mileage, maybe 200 miles per tank.
Any ideas????
