How to trouble shoot rear winder defogger and heated mirror? 900 1994

Neither of my rear window defroster nor the heated mirror works during last winter. Now with the first snow around corner I am thinking of fixing them. When press down the switch on the dash board, both lights on the button went on, but neither of them work. I have no idea where to start. COuld someone shed some light on this issue? Car is 1994 940 Sedan. Thanks in advance.
