Complete coolant drain possible with MCC ? 900 1993

On the 940na, I set the heat control full on before starting the drain, believing full well the vacuum-operated valve would do nothing with the engine off.
Sure enough — the total block and lower hose/rad drain was about 6 qt.

Also did a B21 the same way and got about 7 qts from the block and another qt or so from lower hose/rad. IMO, this was a complete drain, where the 940 came up about 2 qts short.

Is there a procedure for getting and keeping the MCC heater control valve open for a complete ±8 qt. coolant drain?
