940 Road Trip 900

I just completed a start up in Florida that involved a 1200 mile round trip drive. Since the company re-imburses me for mileage, I decided to take the 93 944 B230F with 257,000 miles down. I left Charlotte, NC at 6:15AM on Tuesday and arrived at the plant site in Lakeland, Fla at 3:15PM (572miles). My driving speed was 75+ where applicable and the air was off. The car got 27.7 mpg with the Kumho tires, Gabriel Shocks, Fram Oil Filter and Valvoline 10/40 oil.

On the return trip from Parrish, Fla, 40 miles south of Tampa, I left at 6:00AM and arrived in my driveway in Charlotte, NC at 4:pm with three road stops. Since I ran the air and speed up considerably, the mpg dropped to 24.

I am going to check out the 86 245 on a 1K trip to Western Kentucky in 2 weeks.

I did not see any other older Volvos travelling and only one 87 745 with ladders on a roof rack working. Where is everyone?

Regards,
