Tire Failure 900

Michelin Roadhandler Plus, Sears brand, 88T (118MPH rating), date code 98014G. 1999 wk 8 or 1998 wk 14?
Installed 8/29/1999 by the PO.

My wife complained about a clicking noise , no vibration, and I kind of temporary dismissed it thinking it was a brake shoe clacking. Thats what I get for thinking. She looked at the tires and this is what she found at the right rear. The whole outer side of the tread showed signs of tread failure. I chalked this up to being caused by a road hazard but there is a little too much cracking in the sidewall rubber. Needless to say more miles or speed would have caused a catastrophic failure.

I knew that the set of 4-$20 salvage yard 13 spoke wheels and tires would come in handy. I’ve lost faith in Sears in general 25 years ago but not yet with Michelin, especially the MXV4 plus H rated. On order at Costco with $60 off a set of 4.
