Why does it go THUNK! when manually shifting gears on an automatic? 200

Hello there,

I'm starting to hear a loud THUNK! when manually shifting gears on an automatic tranny eg. shifting from P to D, from P to R or from R to D. ATF is topped up, was flushed 5000 miles ago and is Valvoline Dexron III. Transmission shifts well in D and I'm not having any problems with it.

What could be causing this loud THUNK? And leads would be appreciated. Would like to fix it before it becomes a bigger problem.

Thanks,
Yen
