Greetings

ExxonMobil doesn't sell their 10W30 here. For some time there were 2 choices only - OW40 or 15W50. I chose the former based on recommendation from the brickboard. Well now they've brought in the 5W30. I'm not an expert on oils but looking at the VI the 5W30 is not as thin as 0W40 (169 vs 187). For reference Mobil1 10W30 VI is 146. My ambient temp ranges from as low as 80 F to a high very humidy 100 F.

SO should I change to 5W30? My thinking is (may be flawed) that 5W30 would be closer to the ideal weight as recommended by volvo going by the VI of 169 against 146. However I'm concerned about going from a 40 to a 30 in my climate.

Can anyone shed some light? Aprreciate any advice before I confuse myself.
