Clunky shifting 200 1988

My auto tranny is clunking more and more, especially going from first to second. The tranny only has about 70,000 miles on it, and the fluid was changed recently. I know I should take a look at my U-joints, and I was wondering if there is anything else that I should look at that might be causing the problem.
