1991 740 turbo wagon, weird electrical problems 700

Here it is, the other day the overdrive wouldn't work and then it would. Today while driving the car the tach started bouncing all over and the car began to sputter alot. The SRS light came on along with few other dash lights. I will look at it tonight after work, please give any suggestions to give me a place to start. My guess would be to start with the fuse/relay panel, wiring in the engine compartment seems fine, not the biodegradable type. Please advise ASAP, thanks in advance.
