I have a 1990 740 with the B230F, LH 2.4, cam-driven distributor, automatic tranny, etc.
Pretty generic stuff . . .
I would like to get an Optima battery in this car. I have an International style battery in there right now. It is a POS (Hecho en Mexico) and want to get rid of it. The Optima is what I have been looking at, but their own website "locator" says that one fitting my car is not made.
What to do, what to do . . . ?
Since I am not in Europe I do not need the little ventilation kit, so it falls to finding an Optima with the correct qualities that can be made to fit. My tray has zero damage of any sort. My original lock-down screw and plate are both still in great shape.
So, is there a way to fit and restrain an Optima in the N/A battery tray? There seems to be enough room for two batteries, IMO.
What family/CCA/Amps should I be shopping for? I want one that will start my vehicle in a NYC winter with an old starter motor. I live in Mississippi, but go up north on occasion and do not want to have to replace this battery for many years.
Thanks!
