So I'm pulling into a parking lot and then hear this wierd clunk noise and my wheel starts squeeling. Car feels like it has a serious flat so I go look and instead see a black tire mark 10 feet long that stops at my back wheel. After messing with it a bit I discovered this. The car would go in a straight line just fine although I could hear some noise. If I turned though, The wheel would lock up. It seemed fine in reverse. I had to call my roomate to pick me up. While I waited I jacked up the car and took of the tire. I looked everywhere but couldn't see anything that appeared suspect. So I lower the car and wait. My roomate shows up and I have him watch my wheel while I turn in a circle to see if he sees anything. Well what do ya know? The damn thing worked fine. I had him follow me home (about 5 miles) without incident. I didn't see anything fall out of my wheel well that could have caused this and I find it hard to believe a rock or something would be able to lock up the wheel on such a heavy car. What is going on? Any ideas on what this could be or do you think something was just stuck in my brakes? Due to the dust shield I couldn't see behind the rotor at the brake. The car is a '91 744turbo with 238,000 miles. Still runs great.
