Spit, Sputter, Black Smoke 700 1986

My 86 740 Turbo has in the last few days started to run rough, stall and spit black smoke. It stalled on me while driving home and was very hard to restart. Then it ran intermittently rough until I got it home (almost stalled a couple of times). Until then, it was fine, with no hesitation or stalling. It's not the gas because I filled up about ten days ago and the problems just started over the weekend. There is no smell of gas either. I checked the plugs over the summer and they were clean and the right color.
