16v lost timing belt... savable? 700

Ok so I have the opportunaty to buy a 16v motored 740.. catch is it lost it's timing belt.. I don't know much of anything about these motors.. and don't know if they are interferance or not. Is it likely the head is completely pooched? Or is it likely just and expensive valve job?
