cicada on the freeway. 200

Every time I get on the freeway I hear a cicada type noise for a little while. It's running smooth - no crunching. My prime suspects are:
1) the bearings - might the bearings be a cause and are both front and rears replacable?
2) tranny - would low fluid in a standard 5 speed cause such a noise?
3) rear end - would low fluid in there cause it?
Would anybody suspect anything else?
I took the roof racks off to rule them out as a source.
Any and all feedback is welcome.
