Now they want me to change my transmission (960) 900

I posted this to the rwd forum, and realized my mistake later. I tried to delete it via the edit button-to no avail.

On Oct 18, I posted a plea for clarification on my trans problem, lots of people gave good info and encouraged me to explore further. The dealership is telling me to give it up.

I was getting different codes. 1st 222 and so I had dealership replace PNP switch.

2 days later,I got another code and flashing lights, 313, but the dealership started getting different codes when they looked at it so they replaced brain. Then I got a new code 2 more days later, but as it was stuck in limp home mode, it sat in my drive for the last 3 weeks, while I waited and tested it daily to see if it had stopped flashing. One day after a long idle, I restarted it to find no flashing lights and I drove it into town for a trans flush.

I wrote that the trans fluid was blackish brown but smelled unburnt and that there was too much of it. The trans whined under 24mph and over 45mph. 3 days ago, I started it up and it didnt flash and didnt whine so I took it to
Jiffy Lube where they dropped the pan cleaned the filter and replaced fluid with synthetic.

These people were great, I must say, very professional and they really knew what they were doing. They were amazed that Volvo glued the pan up there, though, with no gasket. There were no iron filings but there was a lot of sludge.

When I drove the next day to AutoZone for a code check, it started flashing again.
The verdict: 755 shift cylinoid no.2 B circuit malfunction.

So I called the Volvo dealer (they of the shotgun approach let's just replace anything we can think of and cross our fingers) and the service manager said,

"Thought you were going to replace the trans with remanufactured unit,as per our agreement."

(we were then going to put the old brain back in and refund $490 of $613 they charged me to replace brain.) "Well," said I, "that was then, this is now. Trans may be fine. Want cylinoid fixed."

Reply: "Er no, we dont get inside the trans. besides, clutches are wreaked because of evidence of sludge. So replace trans, and get new wiring harness also (for 350) and then we will swap out brain and refund your money"

Just checking in to see if this is a bunch of hooey, as the local trans shop (Aamco) wont work on volvo trans, "too much bad electronics, not worth it"

Where do I go from here? Beloved Husband and I not getting sleep over this.

(Note to Pauli, If I could be sure it would not slip into limphomemode, I would make a run for Richmond,( we are 3 1/2 hrs away in Jacksonville, NC)
but it actually switched into flashing, while I was driving it, for the 1st time.(all the times before it only changed when I shut the car off and started it again.)
