My 98 V90's belt was chirping like a canary in coal mine.(The Police!)It quiets down in damp or wet weather. At first I was very concerned that it was the timing belt/tensioner, but close inspection of the serpentine belt indicates it is a bit worn and due for replacement and was the cause of the noise. The car has 109K on it and the timing belt was last changed at the 67K mark by a dealer. While I have all of the PO's service records, I see no indication that the serpentine belt was ever replaced. Questions:
Should I replace the timing belt when I replace the serpentine belt even though it is a bit early by Volvo's spec.? I have a decent indy Volvo guy that is pretty reasonable with the pricing.
What's the mileage/age spec. from Volvo to replace the serpentine belt?
Thanks!
