88 740GLE turbo s/w fuel problems still 700 1988

Hi List!

Haven't been here in a while since starting a new job and having to commute.

Anyway, some of you may remember my fuel pump problem and I did go and print out the fuel pumps how to guide listed in FAQ.

I determined that both pumps failed since the fuses were fine and the white relay was too. The ext pump was whining really hard just before dying. Guess little one died first.

Had it towed to a shop and got it back a bit scarred when the shop burnt down. The shop had tossed all bolts in the floor boards and removed lines, both pumps, gas tank, tank holder, etc.

I got a used sending unit from a shop in VA that tested it for me and said it worked. Got new internal fuel pump from AZ and the VA shop put in on the sending unit and wired it all up for me. Got a NOS ext. pump from a RI shop moving to a new location and a new ext filter from AZ.

Figured out where all of the bolts went and hooked up all of the lines. Put in a new battery and put about 5 gallons of gas in it. Tried to start it up and the ext. pump I can hear but the internal one doesn't do a thing. Found a small leak between the ext. pump and filter so I tightened that down. No more leaks, tries to start but won't.

Getting ready to tow her to the shop down the street to a shop there unless I decide to park her on the RR tracks.

Any ideas?

rechecked fuses 1&11 and also relay. all seem fine still.

:)
Thanks in advance.
Anna
