My 1989, 240 transmission has a leak where the cooler lines are held to the case by a metal block.

The metal block has two notches designed to secure the lines. Removing the block (held by a single 10mm bolt) I found that both of the lines have noticeable wear marks from rubbing metal on metal for 300,000+ miles. The lower ATF tube has what I would describe as a large pinhole where it touches the case.

I cut a short piece of vinyl tubing and slipped it over the hole --- although the tubing was not a snug fit, I was able to clamp the block back down and capture some tube in the "clamp" and between the leak and the case. It stopped leaking... for now. I didn't use any kind of sealant... gravity kept drawing drops of sllippery ATF onto the damaged spot.

QUESTION: what would be a more permanent and elegant way to patch this tube?

I know that I could probably "special-order" and replace with perfectly shaped and terminated cooler lines but prefer to find out what other owners have done in this situation. I didn't measure the diameter of the tubing but I was thinking of some kind of compression or flare fittings when I decided to just put a simple band-aid on for the duration. Thanks.
