Did I just expose myself to a biohazard? 200

Or to be more specific would the original clutch disc in an '89 240 contain asbestos? I'd think Volvo, being ecologically concientious, would have changed the composition by that time.
I just removed the clutch from my wagon and the disc is a black material and there is a lot of black powdery crap running around in there. The clutch discs I'm used to seeing in the older models have always been reddish brown.
It's not like I haven't been exposed before and it seems like it would get mentioned here a lot if it were a concern. But I'm just wondering.
