How much protection in a collision? 900 1994

A few days ago SummerDuckMan posted a link to a video showing how a 960 fared with a BMW in a 60 mph head-on collision (http://video.msn.com/v/us/v.htm?g=bdcad1b9-24fe-4d89-b4ae-fba1c3cf9498&t=c146&f=06/64&p=Source_Fox_Motorsports_Speed
).

Yesterday, while I was driving home on a two lane highway at 50 mph, a driver in a jeep attempted to pass two cars in the oncoming lane across a double yellow line while topping a hill. He crested the hill in my lane while accelerating flat-out when he saw the headlights of my car directly ahead. Fortunately (for me, at least), he swerved to the ditch to my right to avoid hitting me. Unfortunately (for him, at least), he didn't avoid hitting the telephone pole and sending his passenger through the windshield. Don't know if he and his passenger survived.

Which brings me to my question. I'm driving Volvos for the protection they offer in collisions. But after watching the video, it's apparent that my 960 is not invincible in a head-on collision at highway speeds. So what is the consensus opinion regarding the top speed for a survivable collision?
