I'm not a big fan of the quad 4x6 headlamps on my 240. It looks like a buick regal (yuck). In order to take advantage of pre-existing holes for side marker lights and readily available glass e-code headlamps I'm very close to leaping off the deep end and am seriously considering swapping front end parts from an 86 and later 240 (junkyards full of 'em) and bolting them on to my 1982 244. I tried doing it at the junk yard but the mosquitos got the better of me! I hastily bolted on a new fender onto an older car. The fit seems okay except where the corner parking/signals are. So I didn't get to finish. Is it feasible to pursue this any further? I also am attracted to the newer models' hood which looks flusher and sleeker than the older beak style. I'd appreciate any comments on this, even negative ones but I do recall seeing a 242 on Ebay (that got poo-pooed here on the brick board) so I'm sure it can be done, I just don't understand how. Also, is there a trick to seperating the fender at the little weld underneath the turn/park signals? I ended up twisting up the conjoining sheet metal at the junk yard pretty bad -- this was with using the hammer and old screwdriver trick ala chisel. Thanks everyone!
