What does 'Valve Resonance' from an Auto Trans. sound like? 200 1984

Hello, What does 'Valve Resonance' from an Auto Trans. sound like? Different manuals I've been reading keep refering to it and I am somewhat unclear what the valves in my trans do. So its even harder for me to imagine how they sound when they 'resonate'. Just a general idea of the type of sound would be a start, as I have been listening ever closer and would like to know what they are refering to. Thanks, Kenneth
