960 heater/ac buttons not working 900

i have a 92 960. as of yesterday, my buttons for "recirculation" and "ac off" are not working. im not sure why, and have looked for some sort of answer online to no avail. its getting cold, and everytime i turn the heat on the a/c compressor turns on and off making my rpms drop when at an idle (due to ac off not working). its very aggrivating. any help would be appreciated! thanks jason
