960 fault code P0561???? 900

My wife was driving home tonight and called to tell me the SRS, ABS, and Brake lights remained on after startup. She also said the SRS light would go out but upon acceleration from a dead stop it would come back on and stay on until she came to a stop. She also said the radio would whine loudly as she accelerated. I just pulled a code of P0561. I popped the hood and saw some dampnes on the battery and heard a hissing sound coming from the battery. Any ideas where I might start. I'm wondering if the voltage regulator is shot.
