Can a 1989 rotary style A/C switch be converted to the 1992 rocker switch style? 200 1989

Searched the forum and couldn't find a "definitive" answer. Seems like a good conversion if doable(is that a word?). The car I'm currently working on has a bad switch and needs a replacement.
