Removal of headrests: '75 244 DL 200 1975

Hi guys. I have a 1975 244 DL. I would like to be able to remove one of the headrests from it. Got a nice new one from a '76 264 out at Pick and Payless (smashed car yard here in Sydney). This was easy to remove. I understand the removal system of depressing the plastic lugs inside the seat, however my 244 doesn't appear to have these. No, it doesn't! Nothing there. Bugger. So, any ideas how I get the HR off? I have already damaged the 30 year old vinyl on my seats, and seeing I can't afford a re-apolstering, wanna keep damage to a minimum. Thanks in advance!
