New (to me) '93 940 turbo wagon - no third gear or overdrive, sludge in the coolant overflow 900 1993

Just bought a 93 turbo wagon on ebay for $1000, didn't expect much, but seem to have gotten something good. Paint is orange-peely but fairly fresh, engine compartment is immaculate. Interior is spotless, headliner still looks good, even the seats look nice. Salvage title, was hit in the front, but I can't find any telltale wrinkles to indicate anything more than cosmetic damage.

Issues:
1. had to drive it all the way home on a dead donut, lol tread was separated 3/4 of the way around the tire. Tranny does fine in first, second and reverse, but there is NO third or overdrive. Overdrive arrow does not turn off when you cycle the switch. Is this two problems? Dead OD relay, and dead 3rd gear? Anybody got an AW71 lying around?

2. There is sludge in the coolant overflow tank, kind of brownish/grayish, fairly uniform coating on the inside above the level of the coolant. When I squish it around in my fingers it feels like mud, not slippery like oil, and it washes off with water, so I am hoping it is not from a leaking head gasket. Any suggestions?

3. Came with aforementioned donut and 3 15" steel 240 rims with the cheapest tires I have ever seen. Seriously, there are wrinkles in the sidewalls that make them look like balloons. Anybody got four 16" hydra rims kicking around?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
