How not to park a volvo/exhaust questions. 200 1984

My car seems to have quite an affinity with ditches.

Turns out the landlord at my friends' house was only partly done filling the ditch between the 2 driveways. It was mostly parking spots...

The catalytic converter is now snapped and my car sounds like an outboard motor. A new, 36" piece is availible for around $90, mine rattled at 3,100 RPM anyway.

But I hate that old exhaust system, I'd like only one muffler to gain a little power. Is keeping my first muffler and ditching the 2nd an okay solution? Or bypass the first and go to the second? I'm wondering if I couldn't grab the axle pipe and muffler from a decent turbo in my local junkyard? IPD has a nice system but I'm too broke. I have the B23 in an '84, for you guys that know all the specs. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

And for the record...my sister's boyfriend came to pull me out with a tow rope. After we had parked the cars, we walked towards our friends' house, and he walked right into the ditch. Guess it wasn't just me!
