Over the last 5 years I have spend some time and money trying to impove the sound insulation in my 240 with very good results. So far I have used about 100square feet of the B-Quiet sound deadening material on the trunk, headliner, dashboard side panels, under the rear seat, kick panels and finaly the door panels. This B-quiet seems to be the best bang for the back when it come to sound insulation.

I must admit that the insulation of the doors made the BIGGEST difference overall. Now when I close the door I am happy to hear the heavy THUMP sound instead of the regular "Chunk".

Unfortuently since the weather got colder I can't do anything else but plan the the next steps. I still have about 30 square yards of B-quiet and I was thinking of using it on the floor. However after I did some search on the forums I found a recomendation to use Sound deadening carpeting instead of the regular b-quiet insulation (http://www.homestead.com/volvo2/Soundproofing.html)

Finally there still some issues that seem to have troubled people trying to sound proof their Old Bricks.

1) The Pillar mounted Radio antenna(-85) seems to be generating wind noise at higher speeds(40+ mph). This is a personal opinion...or maybe it is the windows seal.(see #2)

2) Some people have suggested to replace the front Window Seals with one from a newer 240.I haven't been able to verify this since I beleive it is my Antenna that generates the Wind noise...However I have also oberved that the Windshield seal doesn't seal properly on the driver side. It seams that it hasn't cliped properly and it is slightly raised on the lower corner.

3) The door seals of the older 240s are not as good as the newer seals. Is there any aftermarket universal seals that can do the Job?

4) I was thinking about purchasing a Hood Quite Kit from IPD...but there might be better-cheaper alternatives to this by getting a hood blanket from a newer luxury car.

Any thoughts...recomendations
