Tackling front brakes for the first time. Definitely problems with caliper pins. I took the bolt out of the bottom pin, and rotated the caliper up. Is the bottom pin simply supposed to slide out now?
The bolt passes through the caliper mounting frame and through into a flange. I'm assuming that this flange is this simply the end of the caliper pin, and the squared profile of the flange is what prevents it from rotating when the bolt is tightened and loosened. If so, I should be able to grab that flange, which is the end of the caliper pin, and pull the pin out. Mine seems completely frozen. Any suggestions for freeing it?
I'll try to spray PB Blaster behind the bellows/boot, and use an adjustable wrench to rotate the pin by grabbing onto the flange. Is it OK to use a torch to heat it?
