81 244 A/C Problem 200

My 81 240 A/C system has a new filter, a new thermostat and a fresh R-134 charge. It holds the charge. However it is not blowing cold. It seems by elimination to be a problem with the compressor. Due to the replacement expense I am hoping that there is a further test that I can do to pinpoint the problem. At this point I also might be interested in a used compressor; preferably in Southern California
