Snugging 245 tailgate-What worked 200 1988

A big thanks to all who shared their knowledge. When I finally got my son to leave the car, the solution was the simple one suggested by one post. There are indeed two stops. We had been closing the tailgate so carefully that it didn't click into the second stop which makes it snug. In fact, I backed the striker out a fraction to make it easier to click into. Cost: $0. This is our second 245 series wagon and I never knew this! Next project is to replace all rear suspension bushings including the trailing arm bushings - the box 'o parts is on it's way from IPD. I opted to rent the bushing removal tool from IPD rather than make the tool as referenced in a post last week.
