Is there any way to adjust the "curve" on my fuel guage?
I replaced the sender a few weeks ago, and now I've noticed a marked curvature to the way it reads. I get about 300 miles on a tank of gas, and from 0-100 miles brings the needle down by a little over 1/8. At 200 miles, the tank reads 1/2, the it plummets over the next hundred miles.
I once calibrated the guage on my 1800 by starting with an empty tank and checking the resistance off the sender for each gallon of gas I added. Then I hooked the guage up to power and ground and combined resistors in the circuit to emulate various fuel levels. The guage has levers in the back that adjust the top stop point and the overall angle of the mechanism. It was a major pain to get it right, but now I can tell you exactly how many gallons are in the tank by what the guage reads. Can anything like this be done on a 240?
