85 760 trunk lock woes 700

Hey bricksters,
My 760 trunk lock has failed several times and I got it open using the long extension trick. The electric lock motor works, but doesn't always turn the white plastic mechanism that is on the lock itself. Is this white plastic piece the problem? If so, how do you remove the lock? I have a '85 740 parts car that I borrowed another motor from, but it will hang up like the original and hence, lock the truck. HELP!
