Bulb failure relay tip 700

Have had the warning light illuminated for my low beams which were not replaced in pairs but were both working. My relay failed killing the cruise and brake light circuits. Installed a new "Kaehler" relay from FCP and apparently it is less sensitive to variations in resistance as the light is now out.
This is an '87 745 BTW
