I have a 1990 B234F 745 GLE Wagon, 230k miles. The car runs fine, but about once every 5 starts, when I turn the ignition to the start position, it takes about a second before the car responds and starts turning over... I get absolute silence for the one second (except for a "click" which I think is the radio suppression relay), then vroom! the car starts right up. Every 10 starts or so the car doesn't start at all... doesn't even turn over, as if the battery were totally dead, except for the "click". After a few attempts, the car starts. I replaced the RF suppression relay anyway (I carry a few spares - I later took the old one apart and tested it - it works). That didn't help. The battery is new. I hear the fuel pump pressurizing the rail. I want to think it's the ignition switch, but all the accessories work fine - no intermittent electrical problems. When the car does start, it runs fine - no electrical problems, good gas mileage. Okay, one electrical problem - the burnt light bulb indicator lights up every once in a while even when all lights are off. I checked all the grounds. All are good. I have not seen a pattern between this indicator and the car not starting. I live in Hawaii - no cold start problems here!
