Hi,

I am having the transmission of my 1993 940T replaced with a JY unit. The JY delivered is an AW 71L while the car has an AW 71.

My question is "Are AW 71 and AW 71L interchangeble?"

Further info:
I ID the tranny as AW 71 (without 'L' - no lockup) because the tranny tag says 03-71, and the Product Plate indicates the car came with a AW 71 (2nd digit on 2nd line is 7.) This is based on information from the FAQ, "700/900 Series Model Identification" .

Please note on the same page at the bottom, "Transmission Model Information" it says 91-97 940 turbo cars use AW 71L (03-71L), but of course it says for reference only - use tag numbers for positive ID.
