having a problem with an oil leak 200 1990

since i got my 1990 240 dl i have been having a problem with an oil leak from the oil cap and its leaking onto the exhaust and causing excess amounts of smoke and i changed the flame shield but it hasent stopped and i was wondering what else it could be....thanks
