HID CONVERSION 240? 200

Greetings:
E-Bay, etc. are selling HID light conversion kits for about $200 complete. They are set up for 9004 bulbs as in US model Volvos with the big square headlights. Kits for H-4, etc. are also available. I wonder if anyone has tried these? The catch might be that they don't do high beam, just low beam. Thus you would have to add a high beam via driving lights and/or live in a state that does not do inspection. This might be an alternative to getting Euro headlights. The units, I think are 35 watts per bulb and a low consumption for the ballasts. I'd like someone else to try it first! I'm sure this is not a US DOT approved conversion, but they are widely sold. Comments?
