oil in distributor?? please help!! 700

here's the situation, for the last 3 months, my wife's 86 740 will start and run for 10 minutes and then will shut off and won't run again. and then today, i tried to start it and it wouldn't start. i replaced the coil, ignition amplifier. i'm not getting any spark at the sparkplugs, but getting a little spark from the coil. so i went and took off the distributor cap and found a little oil on the inside, and then from there i took the dust cap protector off and found oil in there as well.. what would cause this and what would you suggest. how hard is it to replace the entire distributor?? is it easy enough to do without any special tools??? please let me know.
