part price 200 1988

just had the wagon back from the auto electrician and apparently i need a new crank angle sensor the price $421 dollars the reaction "its not a bloody ferrari" does this sound like a fair price or is he kidding me.how this came about was after an all day drive with the a/c on in 36c degree day the car just stalled at a set of lights and would not start for 10 minutes,it then ran for 2 mins then stopped again,by the way i live in australia where parts are relatively cheap.
