1988 740GLE need more legroom

Have just purchased 1988 740 GLE, but need more legroom. I am 6'4" and my thighs get stuck under steering wheel when I get out.

Please observe the FAQ rules about not being mean and suggesting I lose weight!

Seat will not go any lower, steering wheel is not of the tilt ilk.
Is it possible to transplant either a newer model seat which can go lower,
or transplant a newer model tilt steering wheel?

Or just replace the steering wheel with one with a design that has a bottom that is flat, rather than circular --- or something?

Any ideas to help me out of a tight squeeze, besides trying the Atkins diet?
