"It's a Beautiful Thing"!
As you know I had my '69 144s laid up for several weeks now trying to troubleshoot a no-crank situation I believed related to a bad starter. That's corrected, so I had it fired up and running for half an hour last night.
I took that time to begin the check-over for state inspection, running through the lighting operations, fixing a faulty headlight DIP relay, trying out the heater, etc.
Switching this and that, walking around the car, I am happily impressed that brake lights, parking lamps, turn signals, flashers all work.
Sitting behind the wheel, I notice how neat and clean the carpet is....the original dash cap is perfect! I forgot how roomy the glove compartment is (big hands, have those Swedes).
Even the cigar lighter works!
I chuckled gleefully as the TEMP and DEFROST dials lit up bright red as I thumb-wheeled into a test of the heater.....
Man, what a great feeling to be back into my first car again....
and have so much it it working right from the start of my ownnership and rebuild!
Thanks for reading. Stay tuned for photos.
