Gates verses Contiential belts 200

I was going to repalce the belts on my 88 244 with Gates belts. I just bought them the other day, and thankfully saved my reciept. I have however found that I can order Contiential belts from FCP gorton for half the price of the Gates. Are the Gates better belts. I thought that Contiential was the original manufaturer of belts. If the Gates are better I will keep them, otherwise I will go with the Contiential from FCP. Thanks for any information and happy bricking.
