My car started stumbling on the highway. Car could maintain 60 mph but engine would stumble and there would be a lack of power when you try to accelerate (even gently). After a few minutes, the symptoms went away. The car had 1/3 tank so I top off the tank just in case it was a pre pump issue.
According to the excellent FAQ I checked the following:
1)I put a tube through the fuel filler and listened. Could hear fuel sloshing around in the tank with engine running.
2)Main pump under the driver's seat sounded for about 2 seconds when I turn ignition to on without starting car
3) Fuel tank topped up to full
Today, car ran fine but when I drove over some railway tracks, the car started stumbling again with the exact same symptoms. This time the symptoms stayed for about 10 minutes before it went away.
Any suggestions?? Failing fuel pump?? BTW the main pump does not make any loud noises.
