Notchy Shifting M46 700 1986

My transmission seems to be getting a bit " notchy" in it's shift feel. At times it shifts very smooth. Others it's difficult to engage 1st or 2nd.Doesn't seem to be affected by temperature. It is quiet, the OD works very good. I changed the fluid about 10K ago and nothing on the magnets. Is there something in the linkage that wears or can be adjusted?

Car has about 222,500 miles.

Thanks

Mike
