gas choices

Happy New Year All,
A question on fuel.....over the years, I have heard arguments for using premium gas because of benefits to fuel system, power, better gas mileage, etc..
Does anyone have any views on this subject? I am presently driving a 92 960 wagon, using cheapest gas. ( eastern Canada). Seem to work well, but I have only had the car for about two months.
