No spark, no start, but have fuel pumps 200 1986

Cold started my NA 86 yesterday and moved it about 10 feet when it suddenly stalled. Would not restart. Engine turns over strongly, tachometer jumps when key first turned to start, dash lights all light up and fuel pumps come on and run. I pulled the wire from coil to distributor and do not get a spark while cranking. What are my next tests and possble causes? I replaced the main wiring harness a couple of years ago to eliminate deteriorating wire problems at the firewall.
