Replaced Ball Joints: still Clunks! 700 1990

My '90 740 Wagon has a low-speed front end clunk.

From what I've read, I figured I had about a 90% chance of curing it with new ball-joints. $50 and three hours later, the clunk is still there. It is a clunk I can both hear and feel. I want to say it's stronger at the driver's side, but I can't be certain because I'm not a passenger very often.

Any thoughts on the cause?

How can I diagnose this?
