Thanks for all the helpful info so far!
Here is the next question: The parts catalogs show a rubber washer UNDER the valve springs ( part number 418-515-3). My head has only a metal washer,no doubt a rebuild. Is this rubber washer necessary or can it be replaced with a metal washer? This is not the oil control washer on top of the valve springs.
